You might think after reading the title this guide would only include the ever-present Jeffrey Campbell Litas, MAC Ruby Woo lipstick, & Zara’s pleated leather mini and camel cape but, it won’t! 3. Thigh highs are far too “in” right now to pick just one!

Take cues from her daily style to create long lasting additions. A useful but frivolous gift, such as glam beret, will keep her stylish and warm all winter long!

Happy Holidays!

Featured Gift: Tied Up and Tousled

7 Dec

Through the beauty of the internet I was introduced to one of the most adorable accessories on the planet!

Tied Up & Tousled

I had a little chat with the designer, Kate, and her creative director (& sister!) Anne about their amazing business together:

1) How did you begin designing Tied Up & Tousled?

“I have been a Hair Designer for 8 years. While I was building my portfolio I started making head pieces for photo shoots. They helped me capture a certain aesthetic. They gave the woman in the photos a clearer identity and revealed a lot about my point of view. I also studied Fashion Design and Fine Art Textile at Kent State University. Creating headbands was just a culmination of all my passions; fashion, beauty, fine art, and self-expression.

I still make all the pieces by hand in my studio in my one bedroom apartment but I think that’s what makes them so special and unique.”

2) What is your favorite way to style your pieces?

“My style is effortless and easy so I love to pair a glamorous sequins band or intricately beaded piece with tousled hair and jeans and a plain tee. It’s ALL about the accessories for me.”

3) Who is your biggest style inspiration?

“I don’t have a specific style icon. I look at nature. I look to the past. I love vintage. I take a lot of inspiration from Native American culture. It’s authentic and raw.”

All of the Tied Up and Tousled pieces are insanely beautiful. Any free spirited girl (or boy!) would look gorgeous in these pieces of artwork. My favorites are absolutely the Sienna (two above), the Natalie (with gold chains-not pictured), and the Stella (first photo). Whether you love sequins, feathers, beads, peace signs, these make the perfect gift for you, your best friend, or both!

With such affordable pricing ($24-60) these are the must-have gift for all your friends. Each hair accessory has a different personality, just like each of your friends and family. I could not imagine a more beautiful, thoughtful gift. My favorite part- there are pieces for every season! Rock the gold for the holidays, flowers in the spring, feathers during summer, and the rich reds and golds next fall!

The best news is, Kate and Anne have offered a 15% discount to Everyday to Runway readers! The Perfect Party Polish

2 Dec

I am a mani/pedi girl. I do not think I’ve seen my bare nail for years. Luckily for me, my candy colored stash of polishes keep me busy every two weeks. Now that the holidays are coming up, I love to add a festive touch to my tips and toes and no one does that better than Deborah Lippman!

Her glitter-featured collections are prime for the tinsel-loving season and will be the perfect addition to that Little Sparkly Dress.

Clockwise: Today Was a Fairytale, Boom Boom Pow, Bad Romance & Across the Universe.

I love that the Deborah Lippmann polishes can capture so many different moods despite being all chunky glitter. I love Bad Romance for a romantic, deep look, while Today Was a Fairytale is so girly and fun. I used to steer clear of glitter polishes due to the hassle of removing it, but a new secret of soaking the nail in remover before using a cotton pad to take it off wipes the color off clean in 1/3 of the time.

The iconic polish: Happy Birthday

Her polishes range from $16-20 and come in everything from redish orange Supermodel, a polish created with Dree Hemingway, to the cement-ish color of Waking Up in Vegas that Gaga wore on the cover of September’s Vanity Fair. If you’re more into the classics, go for Believe- a goldish, beige created with Cher, or Hit Me With Your Best Shot, a shocking gun metal collaborated with Pat Benatar. Or cult faves created for Rodarte- Marquee Moon, or Purple Rain, the lilac featured at Zac Posen.  All can been seen on her site here!

This Holiday season, there’s nothing more perfect than treating yourself to a manicure that will sparkle all season long.

GAP Goes Military Chic

18 Nov

Looking for an adorable military boot that works with your winter budget?! GAP just came out with these leather lovelies that will keep you sky high and in charge all season long.

The platform provides support so your arch isn’t as strained, the heel is thicker to brave the streets and subways (important for us NYC girls) and the price tag is affordable at $195. I love the lace up look mixed with the buckle to give this “hiking” boot some structured detailing.

As much as I love the Pierre Hardy x GAP wedge, that created mass fashion build up this fall, the peep toe wasn’t justifiable as we’re going into wet, snowy months. But this boot is fully prepared to keep your toes warm until the temps rise again for Spring! This boot is now available online here and in some GAP stores, so go get your salute on with GAP’s latest adorable must-have!

The Eye Makeup Must-Have

26 Oct

I love my shadows, my liners, my triple coats of mascara but I don’t love the stinging, itchy, dry sensation of removing those items each night. I have used Clinque, Lancome, drugstore, and all eye makeup removers cause my eyes to feel as parched as the Sahara, or like an oil slick. That is until under recommendation of a Twitter beauty girl, I looked into Lierac.

I had never heard of the brand but knowing that I had one reliable recommendation gave me the confidence to try the new product: the PARIS DIOPTI DÉMAQ Gentle Eye Makeup Remover ($24).

I am now an official believer in Lierac and gel eye makeup removers. The smooth light texture of this product wipes off clean taking even my darkest of black gel liners with it.

This product, only released in a month ago has new ingredients to combat dry, irritated skin as well as help with strengthening lashes. The active ingredients have purposes that go beyond any normal remover:

Floral waters of Rose and Cornflower: Purifies, refreshes.

Linden and Mallow extracts: Calms and softens with anti-inflammatory properties.

Keratin and vitamin B5: Protects lashes and boosts growth.

Glycerin and Fucogel®: Hydrates.

I have used this almost every single night since receiving it and honestly think that I will never return to liquid removers that spill in my travel bag and dry out my eyes. For me, the only con I’ve found is that sometimes the gel dries around the cap but a little wet paper towel once a week fixes that issue! Removing your eye makeup is so important every single night in order to prevent wrinkles, bacteria and to avoid raccoon eyes on your pillow case. So if you find your eyes oilier or dry after using liquid removers, try out a gel next time you go to the store, finding a solution that I like makes me less hesitant to “forget” each night.

Available at select CVS & Duane Reades and online.

The Everyday Shoe.

23 Sep

While I may LOVE my “Runway” shoe, it’s the Everyday one that is more important in 90% of our lives. It’s funny how so many of us, myself included, drop a big chunk of our paycheck on that luxe piece that we can maybe wear to that one event that may actually one day come up! I have so many higher than high heels or animal print blouses that I’d never actually wear on a rotating basis. I’m learning to spend my money on investment pieces and items that I can utilize at least one day a week. As a New Yorker I spend most of my time running to the subway, between errands, attempting to hail a cab and wearing heels all day long just isn’t a viable option so I am widely embracing the ballet flat.

The Covet Shoe: Chanel. This is a teeeeny bit, ok, a lot bit out of my price range. But iconic and a must-have in my future closet.

The NY Shoe: Tory Burch. It is a miracle if I make it from my apartment door to work without seeing at least one girl wearing this shoe. I personally refuse to wear this shoe as I feel that all you need is a khaki Burberry trench, and a Longchamp purse and you’re immediately blended into a sea of clones.

The Everyday Shoe: Sam Edelman. I am a huge fan of all Sam Edelman shoes. Unique shapes, great quality, and an affordable price. This pair of $99 ($69 on Piperlime) Calypso flats is a go-to adorable look. The quilted fabric channels Chanel, the patent adds a luxe vibe above it’s price tag, and the inside is just too cute for words. The flat comes in thirteen colors ranging from basic black to purple suede to leopard hair. It will appease any fashionista and will keep your wallet full enough for that extra pair of earrings you had your eyes on.

Ballet flats are a lifesaver to any working girl and the Sam Edelman Calypso flats are the ultimate Everyday Shoe.

3 Styles to Step into Chic

13 Sep

Shoes are the epitome of a fashionista’s closet. I could buy buy buy and never get sick of shoes! I stumbled upon a few this New York Fashion Week that I am coveting beyond belief!

1. Aldo Spring clogs for Erin Fetherston S/S 2011

Love the clog feel but with a fun spring wedge twist! Studding on the side is super chic and I find the below style of one the most comfortable way to wear heels! Although we all know that heels aren’t really about comfort, right?

2. Alejandro Ingelmo for Chris Benz S/S 2011

Ok, now you have to ignore the horrendously chipped nail polish but WOW, aren’t these heels stunners?!  Love the laid-back sling-back look paired with the elegant, lady-like feel in the front! It’s the best of both worlds! This is one serious heel but I think it’s worth it, I’m already picturing the outfit pairings just as Spring is coming along next year.

3. Jeffrey Campbell for LF Litas in Cheetah

These lovely Litas will only be available at LF stores nationwide and without a doubt this will sell FAST! The remind me of a mix of the coveted Alexander Wang leopard print with the Jessica Simpson Dany platforms with a chic twist of a boot. They are absolutely a statement piece and will be coveted by personal style bloggers everywhere. They’re officially out, so go get ’em!

I love and would gladly sport any one of these stylish shoes. Some of the above more attainable than others: in style, price, and accessibility but they are all on my must-have list.
