After my lovely night with French Connection I fell absolutely in LOVE with capes. The look is an adorable twist on winter fashion and new throwback to the style scene.
1. If you want to keep the elegance factor to the cape, pair it with an ultra girly mini, tights, and the highest of heels. Above I am wearing French Connection’s Penny Party dress. I paired the flirty ruffles with French Connection’s 5″ Mary Janes and FC’s Crusader Cape. Throw on a shimmery scarf and a silver bow clutch, and you have the most feminine of outfits!
2. If you want to dress down your cape, pair it with skinnies, either denim or black and a basic long sleeve shirt. Most capes have open arms so you want to stay warm through the chilly months, and a tee, like LNA or The Row, is your best bet.
3. To go all out with your look, take your cape to the next level with flared jeans a la Rachel Zoe. Elizabeth and James’ Stevie Jean, above from Revolve Clothing, is the perfect 70’s style pant to pair with a printed l/s tee, and a floppy black hat such as this cheap & chic one from F21.
I am loving the cape for Fall/Winter 2010, are you?!

A personal favorite, Kate Spade, has released their newest holiday campaign and it does not disappoint! Vivid colors, glittering accessories, and what looks like a really good time!
Metallic wristlets, bold accents, and kitschy add ons make this a stand out look.
A structured red clutch, bright hued tights, and sparkling jewels make any girl shine.
A carry all tote, and some eye-catching pumps are every girl’s must-have!
ALL about the bangles! Layer all shapes, sizes and colors for a unique, eye catching look.
Their Holiday Ad Campaign is pure adorable, kitschy fun! I love Kate Spade because they’re such a consistently-cute brand that produces new must-have items each season. Fun fact: my first real handbag was a Kate Spade black nylon Sam bag that I bought with my own babysitting money in 8th grade on a trip to NY!

Olivia Palermo at the Mango fashion show in Spain is the epitome of chic and class. The feminine but structured look is taken to perfection with Olivia and I’m here to help you re-create it!
Olivia looks sky high with tailored wide leg trousers, the highest of heels, and the little girly detailing of a pussybow. Luckily for us the look can be redone with a variety of price points. While Olivia is rocking the brand’s look, the overall aesthetic is easily accomplished with easy to find pieces styled together for an A+ outfit.
Top, Diane von Furstenburg ($172, Similar style at ASOS for $48). Wide Leg Pants, McQ ($265, now on sale for $80). Heels, TopShop ($250). Clutch, J.Crew ($139, now on sale for $98). Belt, ASOS ($48). Bangles, Via Nativa ($36, with a percentage donated to charity).
I love Olivia’s look because it’s so simple to put together. Whether you shop high or lower end most stores will have a white button down and tan trousers. Utilize the accessories you own to create a cohesive look with your heels, belt, and clutch in one color scheme. For me, it’s most important to rock a fierce heel when wearing wide leg trousers in order to get that illusive height and to show off the pant proudly.
What do you think? Would you recreate Olivia’s look?
The Museum of Contemporary Art Gala on Saturday hosted the creme de la creme of fashion elite. The dinner was destined to be chic, how could it not with Chanel fine jewelry as a host?!
Celebs with prime A-list style like Rachel Bilson, Chloe Sevigny and Rachel Zoe were present and rocking serious red carpet perfection.
Mila and Rachel both in Chanel.
Dasha Zhukova, former Russian Pop Editor, in Rodarte, and Miss OOC herself, Rachel Zoe in a Gianfranco Ferre gown.
Rose McGowan in beautifu emerald floor length Issa gown and Chloe in a fabulous Chanel jumpsuit.
Gorge girls, but I wouldn’t expect any less of the MOCA attendees! Which of these stylish looks would you wear!?
Photos from Harpers Bazaar online.
In my usual nightly peruse of blog extraordinaire Fashion Gone Rogue, I was absolutely struck by the beautiful photos of Georgia May Jagger in November’s Harper’s Bazaar US.
Styled by Clare Richardson, and photographed by Hedi Slimane, Georgia shines through the dark pages.
Known for her family ties and gap teeth, Georgia goes beyond rock royalty to full Queen in this spread.
She’s seriously stunning. The clothing is beautiful, the composition is exquisite, and through the powerful stances and inviting venue I could dive into these photos immediately and accept a dream world of beauty and power. Georgia is a silent stunner, a classic beauty with a unique twist.
Give me a creepy castle, sparkling sequins, and a piercing stare any day. A+ Spread.

As I was perusing Twitter as usual today a little twitpic caught my attention…
@Botkier tweeted “The perfect deskside companion” and I thought YES. Well, not deskside companion, as that is absolutely my grande vanilla soy latte but I did think it was the perfect boho handbag for fall!
Botkier’s AVA crossbody handbag is the perfect combination of luxe chocolate suede, edgy gold studs, and chic crossbody chain. Crossbody’s are my life saver in NYC! I’m a serial over packer, even for just a workday and the depth of this bag will fit all my necessities (plus some) but the slouchy shape keeps the style ‘lax and boho chic.
I picture this bag with a neutral maxi, cropped sweater, and some JC Lita boots. Add a floppy hat and you have Kate Hudson, Rachel Zoe perfection! The purse is $395, which is an investment for us recent grads, but the classic color, shape and detailing will last you for a long time and transition through trends and seasons seamlessly. It’s currently available online HERE and available in black lambskin as well!
With rain, rain and more rain already pouring down in New York City I have been on the serious hunt for chic toppers to tame off frizz but add an element of glamour to my drenched look. The fedora is adorable and definitely on trend, but for any girls like myself with a longer, more oval face it can create an even thinner look. I stick to wide brimmed, floppy hats which add width to the face rather than slimming it more. Vena Cava Fall 2010, Louis Vuitton Resort and of course, Marc Jacobs for S/S 2011 showed floppy hats all over the runway. And celebs like Kate Hudson, Vanessa Hudgens and more sport them constantly…
Nicole Richie shows boho chic perfection with her floppy hat and edgy accessories. A large black hat paired with a leopard print scarf is instant glam! Nicole is seen in wide-brimmed hats often weather with a maxi dress in the summer or with chunky knits in the winter. It’s a year round accessory that is both elegant and intelligent–keeping sun off the face!
This adorable option is both chic and cheap at only $13 from Forever 21. Forever 21 is absolutely my favorite place for trendy items. Investment pieces are important to last through multiple seasons but fashion items that I might get sick of: like tribal prints, military inspired, or on-trend accessories are perfect at Forever 21!
As a rule of thumb: For girls with rounder faces– try taller styles to add height. For those with heart shaped faces– try floppier looks to soften harsher lines. For oval shaped faces– wider brimmed hats look best to widen thin faces. But we all know that especially in fashion, some rules are meant to be broken! If you like a certain style that’s not “right” for your shape, wear it! Do whatever makes YOU happy!!
