Design your Own Denim

29 Nov

A few weeks ago I attend the opening of the Levi’s store in the Meatpacking District. The store was cute, a few pieces here and there that caught my eye, but there was one thing that peaked my curiosity enough to share with you all.

Their customizable denim bar!

Aside from San Francisco, this is the only denim bar in-store at a Levi’s. Anyone can come to this Levi’s with jeans of any brand and have them altered, tapered, re-dyed, designed, pretty much anything you could think of for your denim! As you can see in the board below, not only are alterations made but you can design your own custom jeans as well. These jeans would be pretty pricey but once you have the pattern made, Levi’s will keep it on record forever, so you can have another pair made at any time. Jeans, tops, jackets, wallets, belts, even leather jackets can be made at this store all from your own designs and specific measurements.

Luckily for me, I can find jeans relatively easily but this option is pretty great for those with extra cash and denim determination.

Some other pieces in the store… I loved the off the shoulder fair isle, the flannel button down and the black floppy hat.

I love the denim on wool cape look. This is such a chic look that I think the Man Repeller would be proud of!

This is an adorable store with classic finds for winter. But the real reason to stop in would definitely be for the customizable tailor! Great concept in an easily accessible form!

What do you think? Would you design your own denim?

Attended: Ashley Greene for mark.

15 Nov

Last Thursday I attended the Inside the mark. Studio with Ashley Greene. Ashley Greene is one of my favorite celebs right now, she’s sweet, chic, and absolutely has covetable color! I was definitely excited to see her interview with another stylish girl, Suchin Pak, and check out Ashley’s favorite mark. products.

I had heard about mark. cosmetics from when Lauren Conrad became a brand ambassador a few years ago but I had actually never tested the products myself. Let me tell you I am thoroughly impressed! I did an entire face with solely mark. products and the products were pigmented, lasted all day, and didn’t cause any iffy effect they way some new products do on my face.

The event had a tester station with all of Ashley’s favorite products by mark. My favorites include the lip stain in Splendid Pop, which is more of a gloss that slowly turns matte, I love it! One application lasted from before my morning coffee to around lunch! My second favorite is the kohl “no place to run” pencil eyeliner. It’s creamy and applies heavily so it is perfect for achieving that sassy smokey eye. My final favorite is the mascara, it’s definitely lighter in texture so it’s a nice for daytime, but the wand is amazing at achieving clump-less long lashes.

These are official purse dwellers, i.e. the products that stay with me all day long!

One of the fun aspects of the event was the live interview broadcasted online. Ashley seemed so down to earth despite her overnight success and seemed like a normal girl who was grateful for her new life. Ashley told us how high school in general was her biggest beauty regret, how she worked in a bowling alley before Twilight (ps- she’s team Edward), & that her beauty must-have is tinted moisturizer. Ashley was so humble and even took her shoes off when taking a pic with a fellow blogger. This gorge girl is so sweet and underneath the glam exterior, she’s just a young girl who loves make up as much as we all do!

She’s just a lot more glam when she does it! I had so much fun at the event and make sure you go to mark. cosmetics and check out Ashley’s pop up store & see her fave products. While you’re at it, check out their m.powerment campaign bringing awareness to dating abuse and helping girls leave harmful situations.

Photos are all mine, except for the last one which is from the Examiner.

Have YOU Experienced 4D?

11 Nov

The lovely London blogger Susie of Style Bubble tweeted a link to her epic video of Ralph Lauren’s 4D Experience tonight. Ralph Lauren was once again unprecedented when inviting London and New Yorkers alike to experience a visually (and scent-ually) stimulating spectacular tonight.

No ugly plastic glasses necessary, RL used architecturally mapping on their 888 Madison storefront in NY, as well as in London, to celebrate their 10th anniversary as well as the launch of their UK E-commerce site! A massive video of models strutting down the runway, polo players mid-game, and their newest fragrance wowed the public at multiple showings tonight. As an added bonus, event attendees were given a full sense experience by having RL’s newest fragrance wafted through the air during the show.

Congratulations to Ralph Lauren for being one of the most innovative AND classic brands!

Levi’s Spring 2011 Preview

5 Nov

Last night I attended Levi’s Spring 2011 Men + Women’s Preview at the Levi’s Photography Workshop in SoHo for I Heart Heels.

I walked into the chalkboard walled, vintage camera displayed, gallon water decorated unique space and spotted the chicest of crowds. Downtown style reigned supreme teetering on their heeled combat boots in the campaign covered venue at the newest release for the classic brand. For me, Levi’s is to denim the way post-its are to sticky notes and Band-Aids are to bandages. Levi’s are synonymous with the classic American look and dressed down style and tonight was no exception.

But this year they’re updating their classics with an edgier twist that will stay true to the brand’s look but also peak the interest of fashionistas. Denim vests, harem pant-esque jeans, and adorable accessories bring the brand into 2011.

I had a serious style crush on this girl. The loose fitting pants, crop top, scarf turban and red pumps fit into the perfect mish-mash of personal style.

As a special treat, British rock band The Duke Spirit performed for the crowd. The rising band complete with blonde rocker front woman, Liela Moss, was the perfect accent to the raw, classic event. Currently repeating: “The Step & the Walk.”

I’ll be keeping my eye out this Spring for Levi’s denim with a twist, and you should too!

Attended: Rock the Sidewalk After Party

4 Nov

A few weeks back I attended the Rock the Sidewalk After Party hosted by Express and Paper Magazine for I Heart Heels. Express, in a new and innovative twist, held a fashion show for their new S/S ’11 Collection right out in the open for anyone in NYC to see! Models strutted down the 70 foot long runway for the crowd, including two photographers, who will utilize photos from the runway show for their new campaign.

Express’ new ultra minis have me craving warm weather already! One shouldered, floral, ruffled, velvet mini dresses were abundant in the new collection and any girl with an affordable budget & a taste for the feminine will LOVE. In classic Spring trend, you’ll see nautical inspired pieces such as high waisted silk shorts and stripes that will you having craving your own yacht! Express is consistent in providing budget friendly girly pieces that will have you looking adorable all season long.

Post show was an edgy after party at legendary NYC club Don Hill’s. Coming straight from work in my khaki button down skirt, I felt severely out of place in the graffiti-covered, dim-lighted venue. Guests sported leather jackets, top knots, and combat boots in preparation for the night’s guest star: Taylor Momsen’s band The Pretty Reckless.

The 17 year old sported a barely there tee, lingerie, a necklace reading S-L-A-V-E and her now infamous stripper shoes.

Despite my previous non-informed opinion, Taylor’s band did not suck. In fact, the angst-y but youthful songs reminded me of a new age Alanis Morissette although with far less credibility due to her fame-creating role as Little J on Gossip Girl.

The black eyed, dark lipped teenager continually to thank Paper Magazine and Express for having her, and even though I highly doubt Taylor has purchased any clothing from a place other than Hot Topic I do appreciate the eclectic night. Express had a mall reputation, but after partnering with a great mag, an edgy band, and using models such as Jessica Stam in current campaigns I can begin to accept them as much more than a “mall store.”

So the night in short: Express has absolutely stepped up their game. Paper Magazine is still awesome. The Pretty Reckless does not suck, new download: “My Medicine.”
