Just in case you haven’t already seen WWD, People, E!, InStyle, and EVERY other list yet I thought I’d throw in my Emmy’s 2010 opinion… Red Carpet nights are always my favorite way to spend a lazy Sunday night and tonight was no exception.
Loose hair, strapless gowns, and mass amounts of jewels filled the A-list carpet. I appreciate fun shows, like the MTV VMA’s for fun, fearless fashion, but nights like the Emmy’s or Oscar’s are solely reserved for gowns in my book. (I’m looking at you Stephanie Pratt and Heidi Klum).
But on to the real stunners of the night… These women were spot on with class, style, and the highest level of chic. Honorable mentions go to January Jones for a bold color and unique shape, Julie Benz for rocking Pamela Rolland’s white sheath, Jayma Mays for pairing the fiercest of red hair with the color of the night: navy, and George Clooney and Jon Hamm for sexing up the red carpet.
5. Is a tie of the sparkles between: Claire Danes, Jennifer Carpenter, and Heather Morris. Claire in Georgia Armani Prive has the most classic shape of the bunch but is beautiful in it. Jennifer Carpenter in a gorgeous one shoulder gunmetal gray full sparkle gown that I cannot for the life of me find who designed (comment, if you know!) And lastly, Glee’s Heather Morris is shining Ina Soltani classic Hollywood gold and a bold red lip.
4. Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen. Anna has already been noted as one of the Worst Dressed for the night but I 100% disagree. This fashion forward choice is anything but standard or safe. We see tons of strapless sparkling ruffle gowns that are beautiful, but also expected. Anna went outside of the box to wow the carpet with an armored anything but basic black. Her hubby rocked McQueen as well which I think is just adorable as well.
3. Nina Dobrev in Zuhair Murad. Newcomer Nina absolutely glowed in gold on the red carpet. Her chic up-do, Chopard diamonds and beautifully draped gown made her the best of the young crowd at this year’s awards. The girl is a picture of class and is stunningly gorgeous. I love the unique shape of the one shoulder and high slit- it creates an elegant balance of skin and covering up. The color looks perfect against her olive skin and her upswept hair shows off the dress is it’s best form.
2. Tina Fey in Oscar de la Renta. The cascading shape, beaded overlay, and gray satin make this the perfect gown for Tina. I love that it’s not trying to be too young, or too glamorous for this insanely funny actress. Her side swept bangs and low ponytail make a perfect backdrop for this gown to shine. Tina hasn’t been known for her red carpet choices, being hit or miss at the past few shows, but there is no doubt that Tina will be on most best dressed lists tonight!
And of course number 1. on most lists, Lea Michele in navy Oscar de la Renta shows up everyone else as the chic-est 24 year old, understanding fashion better than many of the woman gracing the red carpet for decades longer than her. Oscar de la Renta gowns are the creme de la creme and Lea absolutely knows how to rock them. Her Lorraine Schwartz jewels aren’t hurting either. The girl’s look is an amazing A+ in my book with her loose waves, chic bangs, and understated makeup. She’s also rocking Deborah Lippmann’s Lady Sings the Blues nail polish which is the perfect accessory to her Swarovski clutch. Ahmaze.
Great night of television and gorgeous night on the red carpet. Congrats ladies!
